Three more die from COVID; 94 new cases

Three more persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died between November 9 and November 10, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday.

The latest fatalities are a 73-year-old unvaccinated man from Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice); a 63-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Three (Essequibo Islands – West Demerara) and an unvaccinated 60-year-old woman from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).

The ministry said all three patients were hospitalised and died at medical institutions.

This means that since March 2020, 955 people have died from the virus, and for November thus far, 25 persons have died.

Meanwhile, 94 new infections were recorded from 1, 335 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 36, 533.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (five cases), Region Two (nine cases), Region Three (14 cases), Region Four (40 cases), Region Five (five cases), Region Six (10 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (one case) and Region Ten (nine cases).

There are 17 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 53 new patients are in institutional isolation and 2, 232 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 33, 276 persons have recovered from the virus.
