The West Indies Under-19 Rising Stars High Performance Camp held its first warm-up game on Thursday at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua with Team DePeiza defeating Team Auguste by six wickets.

Batting first, Team Auguste posted 210 all out in 42.5 overs, to which Team DePeiza responded with 212-4 from 42.3 overs.

Team Auguste were led by Anderson Mahase, who topscored with an unbeaten 61 from 72 balls (5x4s, 1×6). Ackeem Auguste chipped in with 32 off 38 balls; Jordan Johnson made 28 off 38 and Nathan Edward scored 25.

Bowling for Team DePeiza, Jaden Carmichael (2-27), Onaje Amory (2-33), Shiv Sankar (2-38) and Johan Layne (2-41) were the wicket-takers.

Anderson Amurdan led Team DePeiza’s winning run-chase, stroking 77 off 110 balls (8x4s). Shaq Parris (42 off 61) and Teddy Bishop (a run-a-ball 40) were also in the runs.

Bowling for Team Auguste, Guyanese Matthew Nandu picked up 3-20 off nine overs.

The West Indies Rising Stars Under-19s are preparing for the prestigious ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup tournament, which will be hosted by Cricket West Indies in the Caribbean from January 4 to February 3, 2022.

Thursday’s warm-up is part of a five-match series to finalise the squad preparation for the global event.

Game two is on Monday (November 22) at the same venue.
