Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 976 with the addition of four more deaths – three men and a woman – the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday.
The latest fatalities occurred from November 18 to November 20; they are: an unvaccinated 58-year-old woman; an unvaccinated 64-year-old man; a fully vaccinated 57-year-old man – all from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) – and a 69-year-old man from Region Three (Essequibo Island West Demerara) whose vaccination status was unknown.
November’s death toll is now 46.
Meanwhile, a total of 52 individuals became infected with the virus over a 24-hour period. These new cases were recorded after 900 COVID-19 tests were conducted. This means that the overall number of confirmed cases in Guyana has increased to 37, 325.
These new cases were recorded in: Region Two (three cases); Region Three (four cases); Region Four (21 cases); Region Five (12 cases); Region Six (two cases); Region Nine (four cases) and Region 10 (six cases).
There are also 10 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 67 people are in institutional isolation, one person is being housed in institutional quarantine and 1,878 people are in home isolation.
Importantly, a total of 34,394 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
