Bail for man accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend, police rank
A 40-year-old man was on Monday released on $60,000 bail by City Magistrate Dylon Bess for a series of charges, including assaulting a police officer.
Jason Roberts of Princess Street, Georgetown, was arraigned virtually at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on six charges.
Particulars of the first two charges alleged that Roberts, on November 7, at Middle Road, La Penitence, unlawfully assaulted his ex-girlfriend, Nikisha Ward; he also breached a protection order by verbally assaulting her.
It is further alleged that on the same date and location, Roberts unlawfully and maliciously damaged a gate valued $26,000, property of Jermaine Junior.
Roberts was also slapped with two other charges committed on the same day in question at the East Ruimveldt Police Station. He is accused of behaving disorderly while at the station, assaulting police officer Delon Sullivan and also damaging his shirt, which is valued at $5,000.
The unrepresented man pleaded not guilty to the six charges. Magistrate Bess granted Roberts $10,000 bail on each charge.
The case was transferred to City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for January 3, 2022.
