A 28-year-old man of Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, was electrocuted at the scene of an accident at Zeelugt Public Road. Dead is Seeram Jainarine, known as Akash, a truck operator.

The tragic incident occurred at about 16:30hrs on Sunday. Police Headquarters reported that Jainarine was assisting a 70-year-old man, who suffered a blowout to his pick-up GMM 6541.

Police said the 70-year-old man, identified as Orlando Braithwaite, ended up in the southern trench.

The elderly man then contacted Jainarine to assist him to remove his vehicle from the trench.

Jainarine arrived on the scene with his canter truck and crane; an assistant also came with him.

Police said while Jainarine was operating the crane, it came into contact with a Guyana Power and Light electrical wire which started to spark, pitching the now dead man to the ground.

He was taken to the Leonora Cottage Hospital by the assistant where he was pronounced dead.

The body was later escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, awaiting a post mortem examination.
