Region Six women latest COVID-19 deaths
Two elderly women, age 93 and 71, have died from COVID-19, taking the country’s death toll to 979 since the first case was confirmed in March 2020.
November’s death toll has now increased to 49; both women were from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
The 71-year-old was fully vaccinated and she died on November 11 while the 93-year-old was unvaccinated and she died on November 12.
Meanwhile, 89 new infections were recorded after 1,080 tests were conducted, increasing the country’s total confirmed cases to 37,445.
Those new cases were recorded in Region One (one new case), Region Two (11 cases), Region Three (six cases), Region Four (16 cases), Region Five (two cases) and Region Six (53 cases).
There are also nine patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 69 people are in institutional isolation, 1,672 people are in home isolation and four people are in institutional quarantine.
Meanwhile, a total of 34,716 persons have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
