    More COVID deaths, 89 new cases recorded

    The Ministry of Health on Thursday reported that two persons who tested positive for COVID-19 died on November 24.

    The ministry is also now reporting a death that was recorded in April this year. A 77-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Ten (Upper Demerara-Berbice) and a 76-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne) both died on November 24; a 63-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) died on April 22.

    With the new deaths, a total of 983 people have died since March 2020 and for November thus far, 52 persons have died while the death toll for April is now 67.

    Meanwhile, 89 new COVID-19 cases were recorded from 1, 961 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 37, 613.

    The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (five cases), Region Two (three cases), Region Three (14 cases), Region Four (31 cases), Region Five (14 cases), Region Six (15 cases), Region Seven (one case) and Region Ten (six cases).

    There are 14 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 72 are in institutional isolation and 1, 525 are in home isolation.

    To date, a total of 35, 019 persons have recovered from the virus.
