A prisoner who is on remand for unlawful assault on Thursday jumped from the prisoner’s dock of the Wales Magistrate’s Court on the West Bank of Demerara and choked the complainant.
Police Headquarters revealed that Alberto Jose was further remanded until March 30, 2022.
It is alleged that at around 12:00hrs, the accused was in the courtroom to answer to the charge and while in handcuffs, he jumped over the deck and held onto the neck of Yulerdy Caromota, a Venezuelan national, in the presence of the Magistrate.
He was restrained by a constable and escorted to the lockups.
