A search conducted at the Timerhi prison Friday morning led to the discovery of several prohibited items.
The Guyana Police Force said among the items found is a number of marijuana seeds in oil, three packs of cigarettes along with four cigarette lighters, one improvised smoking utensil, eight cellular phones, one memory card, and reader, three cellphone chargers, several razor blades, eight improvised weapons, six bottles of pepper sauce, four metal spoons and three bottles of fermented drinks.
In the brief statement it was noted that the search was a collaborative effort by the ranks of the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Prison Service.
The items found were confiscated, as investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances under which the items entered the prison.
