Woman, 69, latest COVID death; 44 new cases recorded

A 69-year-old fully vaccinated woman from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) is the country’s latest COVID-19 death, according to information provided by the Ministry of Health.

She died on November 26. With this new death, a total of 986 people have been confirmed dead from COVID-19 since March 11, 2020. Importantly, 55 of those deaths were recorded in the month of November so far.

Meanwhile, another 44 individuals were infected with the disease. These new infections were recorded after 1,029 tests were done. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 37,707

These new cases were recorded in: Region One (two new cases), Region Three (five cases), Region Four (25 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (eight cases), and Region Seven (one case).

There are also 16 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 65 people in institutional isolation, 1,399 people in home isolation, and two people in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 35,241 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
