Relatives are mourning the loss of a young farmer who was pinned to death by a tractor at Vryheid, West Canje backdam in Region Six on Sunday.
Dead is Samuel Singh, 20 of Dun Robin Farm, Corentyne, Berbice.
Manoj Singh, one of his uncles, told the News Room that Samuel left home with his father around 06:00hrs for the backdam.
He received a call sometime before noon informing him that the tractor Samuel was operating, toppled and pinned him in the mud.
Manoj immediately ventured to the location and found his nephew in an unconscious state; he took him to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital where Samuel was pronounced dead.
Samuel was described as a hardworking and caring young man who enjoyed working with his father in the backdam.
