Three more die from COVID; 17 in ICU

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 997 with the addition of three new deaths, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday.

Those who died include an unvaccinated 80-year-old woman from Region Six (East Berbice Corentyne), a fully vaccinated 59-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) and an 86-year-old man from Region One (Barima-Waini) whose vaccinated status is unknown; they all died on November 30.

With those deaths, November’s death toll moved to 66.

Meanwhile, another 77 new infections were recorded from 1,491 tests, increasing the total number of confirmed infections to 37,951.

These new cases were recorded in Region Three (12 cases), Region Four (30 cases), Region Five (six cases), Region Six (21 cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region 10 (four cases).

There are also 17 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 57 are people in institutional isolation, 1,162 are people in home isolation and two people in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 35,718 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
