The Guyana Police Force (GPF) issued a wanted bulletin for United States- based Guyanese Rickford Burke for questioning in relation to seven offences, including his incitement of violence against people.

The News Room has been reliably informed that a one of Burke’s series of recent alleged seditious statements led to the issuance of the warrant for his arrest so he could be questioned by local law enforcement.

Burke is a close associate of Opposition APNU+AFC coalition and on Thursday night he appeared on a Facebook live programme with AFC Parliamentarian, Sherod Duncan, where he reportedly made a number of alleged seditious and inciteful remarks.

During that show, while making reference to the government, he said, “… until somebody get run off the road or something, to compensate for the things that they are doing, they’re gonna keep doing it.”

Importantly, Burke is also being questioned in relation to the the excitement of hostility or ill-will on the grounds of race, sedition on the Cyber Crime Act, the use of a computer system to coerce and intimidate under the Cyber Crime Act, Seditious Libel, inciting the provocation of a breach of the peace, and inciting public terror.

During the recent programme, Burke endorsed calls for “militant” behaviour and “agitation” against the PPP/C government.

But, Burke has made several other concerning statements on his Facebook page. In a December 2 post, he called for a division of the country based on ethnicity.

Police sources also noted that earlier in the year, Burke was also part of a rally in the USA where calls were made by another person on stage to burn buildings down in Guyana.
