Unvaccinated woman, 74, among two new COVID deaths; 42 new cases

An 74-year-old unvaccinated man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) and a 76-year-old man also from Region Four are Guyana’s latest COVID-19 deaths, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

The woman reportedly died on December 3 while the man passed away on December 5. The man’s vaccination status is unknown.

With these new deaths, a total of 1,006 people have reportedly died from the disease COVID-19 since March 2020. And, there have been seven COVID-19 deaths recorded during the month of December so far.

Meanwhile, another 42 individuals were infected with SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus virus that causes the disease COVID-19. These new infections were recorded after 744 tests were done. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 38,160.

These new cases were recorded in: Region Three (one case), Region Four (10 cases) and Region Six (31 cases).

There are also 17 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 54 people in institutional isolation, 913 people in home isolation and five people in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 36,170 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
