Two men die from COVID; 57 new infections

A 71-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Three (Essequibo Island-West Demerara) and an 83-year-old unvaccinated man from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) are Guyana’s latest COVID-19 deaths, as reported by the Ministry of Health.

The men reportedly died on December 5 and December 6 respectively.

With these new deaths, a total of 1,008 people have reportedly died from the disease COVID-19 since March 2020. And, there have been nine COVID-19 deaths recorded during the month of December so far.

Meanwhile, another 57 individuals have been infected with SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the disease COVID-19.

These new infections were recorded after 1,766 tests were done. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 38,217.

These new cases were recorded in: Region Two (two cases), Region Three (four cases), Region Four (30 cases), Region Five (two cases) and Region Six (19 cases).

There are also 17 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 52 people in institutional isolation, 872 people in home isolation and four people in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 36,268 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
