Unvaccinated woman, 69, dies from COVID; 44 new cases
A 69-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death, as reported by the Ministry of Health. The woman reportedly died on November 28.
With this new death, a total of 1,009 people have reportedly died from the disease COVID-19 since March 2020. As such, the death toll for November has increased to 69; the December death toll remains at nine.
Meanwhile, another 44 individuals were infected with the novel coronavirus virus that causes the disease COVID-19. These new infections were recorded after 960 tests were done. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 38,261.
These new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases), Region Two (two cases), Region Three (five cases), Region Four (15 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (16 cases), Region Eight (one case) and Region 10 (two cases)
There are also 16 patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 50 people in institutional isolation, 867 people in home isolation and four people in institutional quarantine.
Meanwhile, a total of 36,319 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
