Bodybuilding Federation eyes fully-vaccinated fans for Senior Championship
There is a possibility fully-vaccinated patrons will be allowed entry into the National Cultural Centre for the Senior Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship, scheduled for December 19.
The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) is currently in discussions with the National COVID-19 Task Force to determine whether patrons could be facilitated at the venue.
The GBBFF has hosted events during the pandemic, but all have been behind closed doors, as the Federation resorted to live-streaming.
According to a release from the Federation, they have suggested to the Task Force they implement the same guidelines and protocols that were used for the hosting of the National Sports Conference in October, along with making it compulsory that, upon entry, attendees present their vaccination cards, proving full vaccination against COVID-19.
While on stage athletes will be required to stand six feet apart from each other. At backstage athletes will be required to wear their masks and to maintain the mandatory physical distancing. Judges will be seated six feet from each other and will be required to wear their masks.
There will be about 30 athletes competing in the three different segments of competition, namely Bodybuilding, Miss Bikini and Men’s Physique.
To date, some of the athletes registered are Darious Ramsammy, Christina Ramsammy, Rosanna Fung, Nicolas Albert, Emmerson Campbell, Yannick Grimes, Colin Chesney, Marlon Bennet.
An official list of athletes will be publicised on December 16.
The competition has thus far attracted the financial support of the National Sports Commission, Fitness Express and several other business entities and individuals.
