Decomposed body of missing Berbice man found
Two weeks after he was reported missing from his No.11 Village, Woodley Park, West Coast Berbice house, the partially decomposed body of Rackesh Ramcharran, 25, was found at the No.11 backdam. It is believed that he died by suicide.
Ramcharran, a father of one and an employee of the Guyana Sugar Corporation (GuySuCo), left home at around 10:00hrs on November 25 and was never seen again.
Relatives posted images of him on social media in the hopes of locating him but while there were several reports of him being seen in various areas, none were credible. Relatives eventually filed a missing person report with the police.
His father Devanand Ramcharran told the News Room that he was informed at around 10:30hrs on Wednesday by another son that a body was found in the backdam. They ventured to the area and found the young man in a decomposed state on a tree.
The young man’s bank card and ID card were found in his pockets and the backpack he left home with was found near his body.
The body was discovered after a lad who was grazing cattle a short distance away smelled a foul odour.
The father described his son as quiet and hardworking; he does not believe that he took his own life and is calling on the authorities to investigate.
