Police have arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly burglarised the Wanwan Supermarket located at Cove and John, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and the hunt is on for two other suspects.
A police report noted that the 18-year-old suspect was identified as a resident of Nabaclis, ECD.
The incident occurred at about 01:47hrs on Friday. Police said a 57-year-old Chinese woman operates the supermarket; at about 20:00hrs on Thursday, she closed the supermarket and retired to bed but hours later, she was awakened by a noise from inside the supermarket and so, she contacted the Cove and John Police Station.
Police said three men escaped on bicycles during which the 18-year-old was caught. A knife was found after police conducted a search on him.
Investigations are ongoing.
