    Two men, ages 45 and 84 of Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne) died from COVID-19, increasing the country’s total deaths to 1,016.

    The Ministry of Health reported on Friday that both men were unvaccinated; they died on December 9th and 10th respectively.

    With those deaths, December’s death toll has increased to 16.

    Meanwhile, Guyana has recorded a total of 38,453 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus with the addition of 51 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours from 1,009 tests.

    Those new cases recorded in: Region One (two cases); Region Two (one case); Region Three (seven cases); Region Four (15 cases); Region Five (three cases); Region Six (17 cases); Region Seven (two cases); Region Nine (one case) and Region 10 (Three cases).

    There are 14 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 46 patients are in institutional isolation and 743 patients are in home isolation.

    To date, 36,634  persons have recovered from the virus.
