Construction worker, 23, falls to death at Montrose worksite

Construction worker Norman Abrams, 23, of ‘B’ Field, Sophia died on Saturday after he fell from scaffold while working.

Police said Abrams was employed with Christopher Menezes of Montrose, East Coast Demerara.
He was on a scaffold along with another worker, putting on moulding on the outer part of a western roof of a two-storey concrete structure.

In the midst of the work being done, the wood turned over and both persons fell off the scaffold, along with the wood.

Police said the other workers, Uwansai (only name given), fell under the scaffold while Abrams fell in the neighbour’s yard.

He was found lying on his back in a pool of blood, with injuries to the head. He was picked up and rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital by his employer and colleague where he was pronounced dead.

Abrams body is presently lying at the GPH mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
