    Three more COVID deaths as infections on the rise again

    Three persons, two of whom were fully vaccinated, are the country’s latest COVID-19 deaths.

    Figures released on Sunday also show an increase in infection numbers with some 14 persons in the COVID Intensive Care Unit.

    The details of the three new deaths are below.

    With those deaths, December’s death toll has increased to 20.

    Meanwhile, Guyana has recorded a total of 38,554 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus with the addition of 62 new infections recorded over the past 24-hours.

    Those new cases recorded in: Region One (three cases); Region Three (two cases); Region Four (20 cases); Region Five (five cases); Region Six (24 cases); Region Eight (one case) and Region 10 (six cases).

    There are 14 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 43 patients are in institutional isolation and 838 patients are in home isolation.

    To date, 36,639 persons have recovered from the virus while a total of 1, 020 have died.
