Unvaccinated 18-year-old dies from COVID-19

The COVID-19 death toll in Guyana has increased to 1,024 with the addition of one new death – an unvaccinated 18-year-old man of Region Three (Essequibo Island West Demerara) who died on December 14.

December’s death toll has now increased to 24.

Meanwhile, another 50 new infections have been recorded from 1,693 tests, increasing the total confirmed cases to 38, 618.

The new cases were recorded in Region One (one case), Region Two (one case), Region Three (seven cases), Region Four (30 cases), Region Five (one case), Region Six (nine cases) and Region 10 (one case).

Additionally, there are 10 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 43 patients are in institutional isolation and 757 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 36, 784 persons have recovered from the virus.
