Linden businessman robbed at gunpoint after attending ‘wake house’

The police are on the hunt for two bandits who robbed a Canvas City, Wismar Linden businessman in the wee hours of Wednesday moments after he left a ‘wake house.’

Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at around 01:30hrs; the 36-year-old was robbed of $200,000 in cash; a gold chain valued at $190,000; a gold ring valued at $130,000 and a Samsung S9 cellular phone valued at $120,000.

According to the police report, the victim secured his business place at the Mackenzie Market at around 21:00 hrs and went to a ‘wake’ which was being held in an open area about 70  meters from his home.

At the time, he was wearing the jewellery and had the cash.

Shortly after, the victim left for home and upon entering his yard, he was accosted by a male who pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him and told him to lie on the ground.

A second male joined and together they robbed the businessman.

At this time, the victim’s cousin walked into the yard and saw the commotion. He was instructed to lay beside the victim and the bandits discharged a round as they escaped.

The victim and other persons went in search of the bandits but came up empty-handed.
