Woman, 68, dies from COVID; 66 new cases recorded

An unvaccinated 68-year-old woman died from COVID-19 on Wednesday increasing the country’s death toll to 1,025.

The Ministry of Health reported that the woman resided in Region 10 (Upper Demerara – Upper Berbice).  December’s death toll has now increased to 25.

Additionally, 66 new infections were recorded from 1,321 tests, increasing the country’s total confirmed cases to 38,684.

Those new cases were recorded in Region One (three cases), Region Three (four cases), Four (27 cases), Five (two cases), Six (27 cases) and Region 10 (four cases).

Additionally, there are nine patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 48 patients are in institutional isolation and 735 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 36, 867 persons have recovered from the virus.
