Commissioner of Police (ag) Nigel Hoppie on Thursday recognised and rewarded Woman Constable Tatyanna Blair-DaSilva for her recent display of professionalism and honesty.

The top cop made the announcement at the Police Force’s Annual Awards Ceremony at Eve Leary, Georgetown.

Blair Da-Silva, 22, of Regional Division Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) was rewarded a total of $200,000 for returning a laptop bag containing US$3,000, $300,000 local currency, an iPhone, ID card and passport.

The items belonged to overseas-based Guyanese Sheik Ali and were discovered under a shed in Fyrish Village, Region Six.

Commissioner Hoppie revealed that Blair-DaSilva posted the ID card on Facebook along with her contact number for the owner to contact her and uplift the items.

The man’s son contacted Blair-DaSilva and informed her that the bag belongs to his father. The News Room understands that all of the items were intact and handed over to the owner.
