Unvaccinated man latest COVID death; 44 new cases

An unvaccinated 84-year-old man is the country’s latest COVID-19 death.

The Ministry of Health reported that the man is from Region One (Barima-Waini) and he died on December 15.

This means that a total of 1, 026 deaths have been recorded since March 2020 and December’s death toll has now increased to 26.

Meanwhile, 44 new COVID-19 infections were recorded from a total of 1, 036 tests taking the total number of confirmed cases to 38, 728.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (three cases), Region Three (one case), Region Four (10 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (24 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Eight (one case) and Region Ten (one case).

There are 11 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 44 patients are in institutional isolation and 685 are in home isolation.

To date, 36, 962 people have recovered from the virus.
