Police in North West District (NWD), Region One are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Venezuelan national whose bullet-riddled body was discovered just before 20:00hrs on Thursday at Return, Baramita, NWD.
He has only been identified as “Dorion” thus far. Police said that residents of the community heard several “loud explosions” suspected to be gunshots and the sound of someone screaming.
A report was made to the Baramita Police Station and when ranks visited the area, they were met with the victim lying motionless, face up with several suspected gunshot wounds to his face, chest and back.
He was taken to the Baramita Health Centre and pronounced dead. His body was transferred to Port Kaituma for an autopsy.
Investigations are ongoing.
