Two more die from COVID; 23 new cases recorded

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 1,028 with the addition of two new deaths.

Dead are an unvaccinated 49-year-old woman of Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) and a fully vaccinated 82-year-old man of Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) who died on December 15 and December 16, respectively.

December’s death toll has now increased to 28.

Additionally, 23 new infections were recorded on Friday from 800 COVID tests, increasing the country’s overall confirmed cases to 38, 751.

Those cases were recorded in Region Two (one case); Region Three (one case); Region Four (five cases); Region Six (15 cases) and Region Seven (one case).

There are also 13 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 44 patients are in institutional isolation and 630 patients are in home isolation. To date, 37, 036 persons have recovered from the virus.
