Doubles champions crowned at year-end Trophy Stall Badminton

The Trophy Stall annual Christmas Doubles Badminton tournament on concluded Friday evening after three days of action packed matches at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.

Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra won the Men’s Doubles, while Priyanna Ramdhani and Shivani Persaud were the victors of the Women’s Doubles. Akili Haynes and Priyanna Ramdhani copped first place in the Mixed Doubles competition.

The tournament, which was the first held after the death of Guyana Badminton Association President, Gokarn Ramdhani in October, brings the curtains down for Badminton in 2021.

“Over the last week, players were involved in intense Doubles and Mixed Doubles games. The Guyana Badminton Association would once again like to express gratitude to Mr. Ramesh Sunich for his sponsorship of trophies,” the Guyana Badminton Association said in a release.

The overall results of the tournament are as follows:

Men’s Doubles:

1st- Narayan Ramdhani and Jonathan Mangra

2nd- Akili Haynes and Tyrese Jeffrey

3rd- Marlon Chung and Priyanna Ramdhani

Women’s Doubles:

1st- Priyanna Ramdhani and Shivannie Persaud

2nd- Anna Perreira and Christina Kumar

3rd- Ayanna Watson and Emily Ramdhani

Mixed Doubles:

1st- Akili Haynes and Priyanna Ramdhani

2nd- Narayan Ramdhani and Mishka Beharry

3rd- Jonathan Mangra and Shivannie Persaud
