Tushen man nabbed with more than $100M in cocaine

Ryan Da Silva was on Saturday taken into police custody after ranks from the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) caught him with 38.3 pounds of cocaine.

Ranks, acting on information, were conducting a narcotics operation in the Tuschen/Parika area on the East Bank Essequibo when Da Silva was busted.

The report said that the car he was driving was stopped and searched; 15 brick-like parcels suspected to be cocaine were found. He was immediately arrested and taken to CANU’s Headquarters where the parcels were tested proven to be 17.4 kg (38.3lbs) of cocaine with a street value of more than US$552,000 which is equivalent to approximately GY$113,160,000.
