    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 1,030 with the addition of two deaths, the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday.

    Dead are a fully vaccinated 66-year-old man of Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) who died on December 18 and a 34-year-old woman of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) whose vaccination status is unknown.

    She died on December 16, taking December’s death toll to 30.

    Meanwhile, 53 more casew were recorded from 742 tests, increasing the total confirmed cases to 38, 870.

    The new cases were recorded in Region One (one case); Region Two (one case); Region Three (one case); Region Four (17 cases); Region Six (27 cases) and Region Seven (seven cases).

    There are also 10 patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 39 patients are in institutional isolation and 749 patients are in home isolation.

    To date, 37, 042 persons have recovered from the virus.
