US Embassy congratulates new PNC/R leader


The United States Embassy on Monday congratulated the newly-elected leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNC/R), Aubrey Norton.

At the 21st Biennial Delegates Congress held this weekend at the party’s headquarters in Sophia, Norton secured 967 votes, his nearest rival being Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon, 722 votes behind. The other contender for the post, Richard Van-West Charles got just 64 votes.

The Embassy in a brief press statement said: “The U.S. Embassy congratulates Mr. Aubrey Norton on his election victory as PNC/R Leader and looks forward to working with him on issues for the benefit of all Guyanese.”
