9 month-old baby boy among six more COVID deaths

Six people including a nine-month-old baby boy have died from COVID-19, increasing Guyana’s death toll to 1,039, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday. Those deaths would increase December’s death toll to 39.

Meanwhile, 35 new infections were recorded from 1,087 COVID tests, increasing the total confirmed cases to 38, 926.

Those cases were recorded in: Region Three (three cases), Region Four (14 cases), Region Six (12 cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region 10 (two cases).

There are also eight patients in the Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 35 patients are in institutional isolation and 671 patients are in home isolation.

To date, 37, 173 persons have recovered from the virus.
