Joseph Ferdinand, 22, of Friendship Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara died on Monday night after being stabbed twice during a quarrel.
Police said at about 20:35hrs, Ferdinand, a construction worker, had a misunderstanding with the suspect during which the suspect armed himself with a knife and stabbed Ferdinand twice – once to his front upper left chest and to his lower left side chest.
The suspect escaped and Ferdinand was picked up by residents and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead.
Subsequently, the suspect was later arrested with injuries to his face and body after he was beaten by residents. He is receiving treatment and is under police guard at a hospital.
