The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) and Brass Aluminum and Cast Iron Foundry (BACIF) Limited have forged a stronger partnership with the presentation of the refurbished winning trophy for the GFF/Kasif and Shanghai year-end tournament.

It was quite a simple ceremony on Tuesday at BACIF’s West Ruimveldt location, where the company presented yet again the polished lien trophy to the Federation.

The GFF President, Wayne Forde said he has gotten commendations for the aesthetics of the trophy from his compatriots at FIFA and Concacaf.

Forde indicated that he will soon present a replica to the Guyana Defence Force Football Club, who won the title in 2019, and in order for any team to keep the actual trophy, they have to win it on two consecutive occasions.

The preparation of the trophy took close to three weeks, and according to Peter Pompey, BACIF’s Managing Director, the trophy is one that will withstand the test of time.

“This trophy represents the epitome of football and the value football can not only bring to our communities, but to our country in the context of sport tourism. With the GFF developing partnerships across Guyana it will only do well for the development of our young men and women,” Pompey related.

Apart from the refurbished trophy, BACIF also manufactured a special trophy for the Golden Boot awardee and another trophy, whose purpose will soon be announced by the GFF.

The ongoing year-end tournament is nearing its climax on January 1 with the venue for the final still tentative.

The action continues Wednesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club, with home team Linden All-Stars battling Guyana Defence Force from 18:00h, followed by Milerock and East Bank All-Stars from 20:30h.

A total of G$3,750,000 in prize monies will be paid out to the resulting top four finishers in the event, with the eventual winners pocketing G$2,000,000.

The runners-up will collect G$1,000,000, with the third and fourth place finishers walking away with G$500,000 and G$250,000 respectively.
