Unvaccinated woman dies from COVID; 40 new cases recorded

An 69-year-old unvaccinated man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death, as reported by the Ministry of Health. The woman reportedly died on December 22.

With this new death, a total of 1,040 people have reportedly died from the disease COVID-19 since March 2020. As such, the death toll for December has increased to 40.

Meanwhile, another 40 individuals were infected with the novel coronavirus virus that causes the disease COVID-19. These new infections were recorded after 1,137 tests were done. With these new cases, the total number of confirmed infections has increased to 38,966.

These new cases were recorded in: Three (three cases), Region Four (14 cases), Region Five (four cases), Region Six (13 cases), Region Seven (two cases), Region Nine (one case) and Region 10 (three cases) 

There are also eight patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 28 people in institutional isolation, 676 people in home isolation and five people in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 37,214 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
