Man gunned down in Albouystown on Christmas eve

Deon Charles known as ‘Zip’, a 28-year-old man from Middle Road, La Penitence in Georgetown, was gunned down by two men who were travelling in a white Axio car late Friday night.

According to a police report, the incident occurred at around 23:50 hrs on James Street Albouystown, Georgetown.

It was reported that Charles was standing on the southern side of James Street when the white Axio came from an eastern direction and stopped in front of him.

Two men reportedly exited the back seat of the car and approached Charles. Soon after, a loud explosion suspected to be that of a gunshot was heard. Charles fell to the ground and the men immediately fled in the car.

Police said Charles was picked up by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Charles sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of the head.

The police reported that the vehicle’s number plate is unknown but one of the perpetrators has been identified. Investigations are in progress.
