    Three more unvaccinated women have died after they were infected with the novel coronavirus, according to the Ministry of Health.

    The latest deaths are:

    1. An 84-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) who died on December 24
    2. A 76-year-old woman from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) who died on December 25
    3. A 69-year-old woman, also from Region Six, who died on December 25

    With these deaths, the COVID-19 death toll has increased to 1,048 with 48 of those deaths being recorded in December alone.

    In addition to these deaths, there have been 21 new COVID-19 infections recorded over a 24-hour period and this has increased the total number of COVID-19 infections recorded in Guyana since March 2020 to 39,107.

    The new infections were recorded after 370 tests were done.

    And these new cases were recorded in: Region Three (two cases), Region Four (nine cases), Region Five (four cases), Region Six (five cases) and Region Seven (one case).

    There are also seven patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 29 people in institutional isolation, 697 people in home isolation and one person in institutional quarantine.

    Meanwhile, a total of 37,327 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
