Nandu in the runs as WI U-19s beat South Africa to level series

Guyanese opener Matthew Nandu was among the runs on Tuesday as West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 side defeated their South African counterparts by eight wickets in the second Youth One Day International in St. Vincent.

The victory means the Caribbean side has levelled the four-matches series, which started on Sunday with the young Proteas winning by 18 runs.

Chasing a meagre 104 in game two, West Indies coasted to victory in 23.2 overs, with just two wickets down. Nandu scored 42 not out off 75 balls (4x4s) to anchor the chase.

Captain Ackeem Auguste made 28 not out off 24 (4x4s) and Teddy Bishop 25 off 37 (3x4s) to aid a solid West Indies reply.

Earlier, the South Africans were dismissed for 103 in 31.3 overs with Michael Copeland making 24 off 52 (2x4s, 1×6).

Bowling for West Indies Under-19, Jaden Carmichael took 3-25, while there were two wickets apiece for McKenny Clarke (2-12), Johann Layne (2-14) and Anderson Mahase (2-34).

Game three is on Thursday.
