Reg. 1 woman dies from COVID-19; 87 new cases recorded

Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 1,051 with the death of a 65-year-old woman of Region One (Barima-Waini) who died on December 28.

According to the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, she was fully vaccinated. Her death has increased December’s death toll to 51.

Meanwhile, Guyana’s total confirmed cases has increased to 39, 238 with the addition of 87 new infections that were recorded from 1,495 tests.

Those new cases are in Region One (one case), Region Two (one case), Region Three (two cases), Region Four (54 cases), Region Six (17 cases), Region Seven (one case) and Region Nine (11 cases).

There are also six patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 33 people are in institutional isolation, 604 people are in home isolation and six persons are in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 37, 544 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
