$300k bail for Linden man found with unlicensed gun, ammo

U.S based Guyanese and former policeman, 36-year-old Colin Benjamin, was sent to prison after he failed on post bail on two-gun related charges and a third charge linked to dangerous driving.

He appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court via Zoom and police listed his address as First Alley, Wismar, Linden.

Police released no details of the specific incident that led to his arrest but the court ordered him to surrender all travel documents.

Benjamin pleaded not guilty to both offences and was placed on $200,000 cash bail for possession of firearm and $50,000 bail for the possession of ammunition.

He also pleaded not guilty to the dangerous driving charge and was placed on $50,000 cash bail.

The matter was adjourned until January 31, 2022 for statements.
