Curfew, other COVID regulations extended for new year
The national midnight to 04:00 hrs curfew has been extended for the entire month of January, along with the restrictions on social activities and other measures including vaccination requirements.
The extended regulations were made on December 29 and approved by President Dr. Irfaan Ali on the same day. They have since been published in the Official Gazette.
As per these regulations, the restriction on private parties, wedding receptions, wakes and the usage of bodies of water including hotel pools remain in effect.
Cinemas, bars, restaurants, casinos and betting shops are, however, allowed to open at a certain capacity. But, only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to be at these places.
All businesses, including markets, can remain open until 23:00hrs; the same also applies to bars and indoor and outdoor dining.
Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination continues to be a requirement for individuals to freely access most buildings. This proof is also needed for travellers seeking to enter Guyana by land, water or air.
