Lloyd Carter, a 45-year-old logger was shot with an arrow while paddling near Muritaro on the Upper Demerara River at around 16:30 hrs on Saturday.
According to a police report, Carter was shot by a known suspect who has been physically and verbally abusive towards Carter and his wife for several years now.
On Saturday, the suspect reportedly paddled behind Carter and shot him with the arrow to his left side abdomen.
A wounded Carter paddled to a nearby residence and sought assistance. He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex and was immediately admitted for surgery.
His condition is stable but serious. Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for the suspect.
