Unvaccinated woman, 69, dies from COVID; 94 new cases

A 69-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region 10 (Upper Demerara- Berbice) died on January 1 after she was infected with COVID-19, according to the Ministry of Health.

With this woman’s death, a total of 1,056 people have died after being infected with the novel coronavirus since the first case and death was reported on March 11, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reported that another 94 people tested positive for COVID-19 and this takes the total number of infections recorded since March 2020 to 40,154.

The new infections were recorded after 1,204 COVID-19 tests were done. And these new cases were recorded in: Region One (two cases), Region Three (14 cases), Region Four (43 cases), Region Five (two cases), Region Six (23 cases), Region Seven (seven cases), Region Eight (one case), Region Nine (one case) and Region 10 (one case)..

There are also six patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 47 people in institutional isolation, 1,281 people in home isolation and seven in institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, a total of 37,764 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
