A 31-year-old Wismar, Linden mother of four is battling for her life at the Linden Hospital Complex after she was severely beaten by her reputed husband on Tuesday afternoon.

Police Headquarters reported that the woman is suffering from a fractured skull and a broken left arm.

She was repeatedly beaten to the head with a piece of wood in full view of her 14-year-old son who tried desperately to save her by threatening the father with a cutlass.

The father then threw a long piece of wood on the son and escaped in the “gully area” but he was pursued by the victim’s uncle and nephew along with other public-spirited persons.

The suspect was caught and severely beaten before being handed over to the police. He is currently hospitalised under police guard.

Police reported that the victim and suspect have been residing together with their four children for the past six years and have ongoing domestic issues.

According to the 14-year-old son, at about 17:00hrs, his parents came home from work together and were talking at the eastern side of the house.

He then saw his father go inside the house and returned outside, during which he heard his mother speaking in a loud tone but he could not hear exactly what she was saying because his computer speakers were on.

He suddenly heard his mother scream and he rushed out to the side of the house where he saw her laying face down motionless with his father stooping over her with a piece of wood lashing her to the back of her head.

Upon seeing that, the child ran inside the house, grabbed a cutlass and returned to the suspect who attacked him with the wood and escaped.

Investigations are ongoing.
