    A 38-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) and a 60-year-old fully vaccinated man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica) are the latest reported COVID-19 deaths.

    The younger man died on January 4 while the man from Region Four died on January 2.

    With their deaths, a total of 1,058 people have died after being infected with the novel coronavirus since the first case and death was reported on March 11, 2020. Four of these deaths have been recorded in January, so far.

    Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reported that another 485 people tested positive for COVID-19 and this takes the total number of infections recorded since March 2020 to 40,639.

    The new infections were recorded after 2,930 COVID-19 tests were done. And these new cases were recorded in: Region One (one case), Region Two (14 cases), Region Three (36 cases), Region Four (320 cases), Region Five (three cases), Region Six (62 cases), Region Seven (one case), Region Nine (20 cases) and Region 10 (28 cases).

    There are also eight patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 62 people in institutional isolation, 1,715 people in home isolation and six in institutional quarantine.

    Meanwhile, a total of 37,796 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
