    A 62-year-old unvaccinated woman from Region Six (East Berbice- Corentyne) and a 70-year-old fully vaccinated man also from Region Six are the latest reported COVID-19 deaths.

    The woman reportedly died on January 4 while the man died on January 3. And with their deaths, a total of 1,060 people have died after being infected with the novel coronavirus since the first case and death was reported on March 11, 2020. Six of these deaths have been recorded in January, so far.

    Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reported that another 779 people tested positive for COVID-19 and this takes the total number of infections recorded since March 2020 to 41,418.

    The new infections were recorded after 2,473 COVID-19 tests were done. And these new cases were recorded in: Region One (three cases), Region Two (four cases), Region Three (77 cases), Region Four (523 cases), Region Five (21 cases), Region Six (69 cases), Region Seven (28 cases), Region Nine (37 cases) and Region 10 (17 cases).

    There are also five patients receiving care in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 66 people in institutional isolation, 2,445 people in home isolation and 10 in institutional quarantine.

    Meanwhile, a total of 37,842 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
