Four-Day warm-up: Pestano, Hetmyer hit 60s on day two

Clinton Pestano and Shimron Hetmyer helped themselves to workmanlike half-centuries on day two of the Guyana Harpy Eagles Best v Best Four-Day match at the Albion Community Centre Ground.

At stumps, Keemo Paul’s XI reached 154-2 with Hetmyer unbeaten on 69 and Tevin Imlach on 45*. Dismissed were Kevlon Anderson (5) and Mavindra Dindyal (29) to Keon Joseph and Kelvin Umroa respectively.

Hetmyer has so far batted 110 balls, striking just three boundaries, while Imlach has faced 134 balls and also hit three fours.

Earlier, Leon Johnson’s XI resumed on 188-7 and were bowled out for 254 as Akshaya Persaud added seven to his overnight score of 54 and Pestano progressed solidly from 24 to 69 from 137 balls. In his close to three-hour stay at the crease, Pestano struck four fours and two maximums.

Keemo Paul (2-20), Sylus Tyndall (2-27) and Veerasammy Permaul (2-67) did the bulk of the bowling to dismiss Johnson’s XI in 117.2 overs.

Day three action is scheduled to start at 10:00h.
