West Demerara men attacked, robbed by bandits

Police are on the hunt for two bandits who attacked and robbed two men of Westminster, West Bank Demerara on Wednesday night.

The two victims – ages 27 and 30, were robbed of two cellphones valued at $225,000 and personal documents including a COVID-19 vaccination card.

Police said that the younger victim was in his variety shop when one of the bandits who was wearing a face mask entered at around 21:45hrs and asked whether he sold cigarettes.

He then felt someone cover his eyes and an unknown object was placed in his mouth; the suspects then demanded cash and took his cellphone but not before they bound his hands and mouth with scotch tape.

The other victim told police he was in his room when one of the suspects barged in and lashed him to his head with an object; they took his cellphone and escaped with a bag containing his national ID card, driver’s license, and a COVID-19 vaccination booklet.

According to the police report, the suspects escaped in a white Primo motorcar.
